George Anderson, BA, CPP, and Randy Grieser, MSW, RSW


George is a senior management consultant and security specialist with over 25 years of leadership and management experience in the public sector. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in social sciences and criminal justice and is a Certified Protection Professional with a focus on violence risk assessment, and has extensive knowledge in the development of violence and threat assessment programs. Before his extensive managing and directing roles in healthcare and social services organizations, George served as a police officer and emergency medical technician. He has significant experience presenting at industry conferences, workshops and training seminars, and his fusion of in-the-trenches business experience and real-life stories connects with his clients and audiences at an intimate and individual level.

Randy is the founder & CEO of the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute. He is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Conflict Resolution. Randy has also received advanced training in violence threat assessment and management from the Gavin de Becker Training Academy. In addition to his work with CTRI, he is a Board Director for the Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (CATAP). Before founding CTRI, Randy worked directly with issues of violence prevention as a clinician in community and hospital settings. He has since broadened his training and consulting focus to include violence prevention in corporate and government settings. He is the author of CTRI’s Violence Threat Assessment – Planning and Response training material. Randy is a dynamic presenter who delivers content-oriented presentations that are both engaging and informative.

*Randy will primarily be delivering the training material about considerations related to mental health.

For those who work in an environment where there is potential for violence, it is important to develop the skills needed to assess and defuse dangerous situations. Drawing upon key insights from threat assessment, interviewing and investigation strategies, this training will teach participants how to manage threatening and potentially violent people safely and effectively. Cancellation Policy

Registrations cancelled 7 or more days prior to the workshop are refundable, minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Alternatively you may receive a credit to attend a future training. Cancellations less than 7 days prior to the workshop are non-refundable. If at any time you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify CTRI of the name of the alternate person who will be attending.

We reserve the right to cancel workshops due to unforeseen circumstances or under-enrollment. Liability is limited to a refund of workshop fees only. Please make travel arrangements with this in mind.

You Will Receive

A spiral bound training manual and workshop certificate as well as morning  refreshments. Participants are on their own for lunch from noon to 1:00 PM, unless otherwise stated above.

Continuing Education Credit

While many associations and licensing bodies accept CTRI workshops for continuing education credits, questions about approval should be directed to the specific association or licensing body for which you are requesting the credits. Credit hours: A two day workshop earns 12 continuing education hours and a one day workshop earns 6 hours. A certificate will be awarded upon the completion of the workshop.
