John Koop Harder, MSW, RSW
John has been working as a therapist and trainer for almost 20 years. He is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree. John is a co-author of our Counseling Insights book. Much of John’s career has centred on working with children, youth, adults, and families dealing with crisis and trauma. While he has a diverse practice, he has particular interest and specialized experience in working with individuals and families impacted by mental health concerns, violence, post-war trauma recovery, gender/sexuality issues, and sexual abuse recovery. John’s work is also informed by his international experiences working with individuals and communities impacted by civil war and ethnic conflicts in Colombia, Albania, and Northern Ireland. John believes people are their own best experts and already have many of the skills, abilities, and competencies that will assist them to address the challenges influencing their lives. John is a warm and engaging facilitator who values interactive learning experiences.

Depression is one of the most commonly experienced mental health concerns. The symptoms can become overwhelming, self-perpetuating, and lead to feelings of helplessness. This webinar will review the differences between “feeling down” and clinical depression. What depression looks like, and factors that may influence the development of depression will be explored.

Target Audience
This is an introductory-intermediate level webinar intended for social workers, teachers, parents, social service, health care and human resource professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about the topic.Method of Delivery
Each webinar is 60 - 70 minutes in length. Pre-recorded webinars include no interactivity with the instructor. Live webinars will each contain 60 minutes of instruction from the facilitator using visual powerpoint slides and then there will be 10 minutes at the end of the webinar when participants can type in questions or comments directly to the instructor and hear feedback in realtime from the instructor.Completing Webinar
Upon viewing entire webinar general participants will be able to receive a general certificate of participants. For those require ASWB and NBCC approved certificates you will need to take a post webinar test. A certificate will be given after successful completion of test. An evaluation form will be available to complete after submitting the posttest.Continuing Education
