Sheri is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor's degree in Criminology. She has a diverse professional background with experiences as a correctional officer, addictions counselor and developer and coordinator of a domestic violence outreach program. In addition to her work with CTRI, Sheri is also a counselor in a private practice setting. She currently provides individual and family counseling in the areas of mental health, addiction, recovering after relationship breakdown and trauma. Sheri believes humor, self acceptance, and social connection is the best framework for successful healing and meaningful learning. Sheri works to reflect this in her facilitation style and is a knowledgeable, passionate and engaging presenter.
This webinar highlights understanding co-occurring disorders as a spectrum of experience and looks specifically at the possible relationships between addictions and mentalillness. The role that trauma can play in co-occurring disorders is also reviewed. Understanding this relationship between addictions and mentalillness is key for caregivers to begin to assist in recovery.

Distinguish between linear and circular causality.
Identify potential third factor variables in co-occurring disorders.
This is an introductory-intermediate level webinar intended for social workers, teachers, parents, social service, health care and human resource professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about the topic.
Method of Delivery
Each webinar is 60 - 70 minutes in length. Pre-recorded webinars include no interactivity with the instructor. Live webinars will each contain 60 minutes of instruction from the facilitator using visual powerpoint slides and then there will be 10 minutes at the end of the webinar when participants can type in questions or comments directly to the instructor and hear feedback in realtime from the instructor.
Upon viewing entire webinar general participants will be able to receive a general certificate of participants. For those require ASWB and NBCC approved certificates you will need to take a post webinar test. A certificate will be given after successful completion of test. An evaluation form will be available to complete after submitting the posttest.
CTRI (Provider Number 1214), is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. ASWB Approval Period: Aug. 10, 2014 – Aug. 10, 2017. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval.
CTRI has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6668. Challenging Behaviors in Youth and Understanding Mental Illness workshops do not qualify. CTRI is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
While other associations and licensing bodies accept CTRI workshops for continuing education credits, questions about approval should be directed to the specific association or licensing body for which you are requesting the credits
